These policies are put forth to protect both ourselves and you, the buyer, from any confusion should any questions or unfortunate problems arise.  We realize that reading through all this is boring and maybe unnecessary, but we ask you to familiarize yourself with the policies at least once.  If you have any questions about the following policies, feel free to contact us.  We will do our best to explain the policies and make you feel comfortable with us as an excellent source for the best collectibles and Tshirts on the Internet.

PAYMENT

Botcollector accepts all following forms of payment:

  • Personal Check
  • Money Order (postal, bank drawn, or MO service drawn)
  • Bank Draft check
  • Visa/MC credit card via PayPal services
  • Visa/MC credit card payments via our secure and encrypted cart system
  • Cash (not recommended)

ALL forms of payment must be made out in U.S. currency, and  must be cleared at a local financial institution before the order is shipped.  From receipt of payment, this could be anywhere from a one day wait (for PayPal or credit card payment) to a 10 business day wait (for most personal checks and money orders).  Botcollector notifies the buyer of receipt of payment and ship dates as soon as these events transpire.  If a customer has ordered from Botcollector on a regular basis with no payment complications (such as lost or severely late payments, bounced checks, etc.), the wait times can be waived due to a built trust.

Payments must be received in a reasonable time from date of order confirmation.  We realize that postal delivery services can vary in their delivery times, so we are not unnecessarily stringent with this policy.  For U.S. orders, payments should arrive within 10 days of order confirmation.  For international orders, payments should take 14 days at the most.  Severely overdue payments will be considered a cancelled order (buyer will be contacted first), and the order items will return to "available" status.  The buyer will be notified via email of this development.  If none of the items have been sold when late payment arrives, the order will be reinstated and shipped after payment has cleared.  If all or some of the ordered items have been sold in the interim, the buyer has the option to have the entire payment returned, or accept the remaining items and the appropriate refund of the sold items' cost.

  • Payment documents (such as checks and MO service money orders) that are returned to us as NON SUFFICIENT FUNDS (bounced) will result in forfeit of the order, as well as a charge incurred to pay the transaction fee for the bounced payment.  Currently our charge for U.S. bounced checks is $6.00.  If the buyer is able to replace payment with the added "bounce" fee within 4 days in the form of a cash-equivalent payment (PayPal credit card payment or postal money order), the buyer may still claim the ordered items.  Any buyer whose payments are "bounced" on two consecutive orders will need to pay strictly with cash-equivalent payment methods on all future orders.  This policy is non negotiable.

RETURNS

Botcollector is a group of avid collectors.  As such, we dedicate our online business to making collecting as pleasant for you as possible.  We approach all aspects of our Internet presence as fellow collectors, not as dealers.  However, in the unlikely event that you think that what you received is not what we sold you, this is the policy.  If the item(s) received aren't superior to or don't match the description in the listings, Botcollector will offer any choice from the following:

  • A full refund of the PURCHASE price of the faulty ordered item(s) (we cannot refund shipping), sent upon receipt of the item in its original condition (this means no taking a part you needed off the item, or switching a worse part, and then returning it)
  • A full refund of the PURCHASE price of the entire order, with payment returned upon receipt of all item(s) in their original condition
  • An appropriate discount from a future order, or an item of reasonable value (approximating the value of your faulty item(s)) free of charge

These choices are NOT available for the following:

  • Items damaged while en route (see the Lost/Damaged mail section)
  • Items that are exceedingly well documented in description and pictures (such as close-up scans or pics taken of a specific area requested by buyer, and then ordered by buyer on the basis of those scans or pics).  This means that if you are concerned about a particular area of a figure you are ordering, and ask us to scan or take close-up pics of this area, and then order the item based on those scans/pics, you can't expect a full refund if those areas don't meet with your approval; the scans/pics will be very detailed.  We encourage customers to ask questions about the figure they are interested in, especially if they have special concerns
  • Items declared as faulty beyond a reasonable time from receipt.  This means if you receive your order, and then 2 months later tell us there's something wrong with it, we can't help you.  We ask that all customers inspect their items as soon as they arrive, or within a reasonable time (2 days) from receipt.

*Botcollector has always been EXTREMELY reasonable and flexible with these policies in the past.  You can rest assured that our main goal is your happiness as a collector.  We will always go out of our way to make your experience with us a great one.

SHIPPING

One of Botcollector's concerns is how our packages arrive.  As collectors ourselves, we know that one of the main problems involved with collecting via the Internet is poor packaging and rough handling by delivery services.  After much research of our options, the United States Postal Service has proven to be the most reliable and consistent service, and damage while en route is seldom a problem.  For all Domestic orders we use USPS Priority mail with Delivery Confirmations.

Botcollector will NOT use UPS.  They have consistently proven to be overly rough with all packages we shipped, and for our customers' satisfaction and for our own reputation we have discontinued any business with them.

For every outgoing order, Botcollector uses new, crisp, strong boxes, and generous amounts of bubble wrap and packaging foam.  We have NEVER had a damaged item, even when rough treatment while en route occurred.

LOST/DAMAGED MAIL

Anyone who thinks about it must realize that Botcollector cannot be held responsible for rough treatment, neglect, or incompetence on the part of the delivery services.  Although we have NEVER in 7 years had a problem with damage or loss due to the postal service (one of our greatest advantages over all other online collectibles shops is our SUPREME packaging), we encourage buyers to insure their orders.  Insurance does not cost very much, and it is worth the peace of mind it brings should anything go wrong.  Be sure to see our International section for overseas/international insurance issues.

INTERNATIONAL ORDERS

Botcollector welcomes International orders, and we're happy to send these awesome toys to foreign shores.  As of 12/1/02, we have happy customers in 23 countries.  International buyers should be aware, however, that customs charges and procedures are often in effect, and there may be delays in your shipment.  On several occasions our packages were opened and inspected at the border.  While damage has never resulted, buyers are heartily encouraged to insure their packages.

Many of the services we use for domestic shipping also do not apply for international destinations.  Delivery confirmations, requiring a signature upon delivery, etc., are often not available.  We have not had any problems with overseas shipping to date, except for occasional rough treatment by the delivery services (which has not damaged contents due to our careful attention to excellent packaging).

For International shipping, insurance means that the order CANNOT be shipped as a gift of any value less than the insured amount.  This means that a buyer outside the U.S. cannot insure the package for $500 but have it shipped as a gift of $10.00 value.  The declared value must meet or exceed the insured value of the package.

For those with concerns about customs duties and taxes, International orders, at the request of the buyer, will be shipped uninsured as a Gift of $10.00 value.

PRE-ORDERS

We at Botcollector know how hard it is sometimes to get the newest figures in the mad collectors' rush to snatch them all up as soon as they are released.  For this reason we accept pre-orders of hot new items scheduled to hit the shelves.

Because the toy industry, shipping services, postal delivery services, etc. are all beyond our control, Botcollector's pre-order system is based on reservations only.  Here's how it works:

  • We make an upcoming toy release or out-of-stock item available for pre-order
  • The customer orders the item(s) via our online store
  • We reserve your order for you, so that as soon as inventory arrives, your order has already been placed and processed
  • Payment will be expected and processed as normal non-preorder items.  However, the money allocated to pre-orders will NOT be accessible by Botcollector staff for ANY expenditures until all pre-order items have shipped.  This is how we can GUARANTEE a full refund if the item is discontinued before shipping to us
  • When the item arrives in our inventory, pre-orders are handled FIRST and shipping notices are delivered via email.  We can typically ship all pre-ordered items within 3 business days of receiving them from our distributor(s)

If the pre-order items are delayed in any way due to manufacturer's schedule change, shipping service delays, customs procedures, etc., all pre-order customers will be notified immediately via email.  Historically, delays can be significant, due to overseas issues, customs delays, and uncontrollable circumstances (like the recent Longshoremen strike on the West Coast).  Pre-Order orders cannot be cancelled after payment is received.  Be sure you are willing to deal with unforeseen delays when ordering a Pre-order item.  The reason we can't cancel the order is that our own order for the items is based on the orders we receive from our customers.  Remember; any delay for our own shipments will most likely be industry-wide, not just for Botcollector.  If for some reason the items are discontinued before they are released, all customers will receive full refunds of their orders (including the shipping costs) via company check.  Refunds will be sent within 30 days of notice of the discontinuation.  Repeat; if the items that were pre-ordered are actually CANCELLED by the manufacturer and do not ship, ALL PREORDERS FOR THAT ITEM WILL BE REFUNDED IN FULL.

Our typical time to receive new toys is between 7 and 10 days before they are available to the general public in their countries of origin.  This, of course, can vary significantly.  All estimates of delivery dates and related information will accompany the description of the item available for pre-order.

CORRESPONDENCE

To us, half the fun of the online collectibles business is getting to know fellow Transformers (and other cool robot toys) fans like ourselves.  We are always happy to keep in touch with our customers, or with people who just want to talk toys and not buy anything.  We are also always willing to help anyone with information or tips on collecting, new rumors, toy history, etc.

Keep in mind, however, that sometimes we are overcome with work, and may not be able to return correspondence as quickly as we do our order communication.  Also, we are people too; negative or harassing communication can't be expected to be returned.  THIS DOES NOT MEAN NEGATIVE FEEDBACK.  Feedback is important to us, and helps us make our services better, whether positive or not.  Negative feedback is just as helpful to us as good feedback, if it's constructive or helps us determine better ways to serve customers.  However, slanderous, abusive, and/or prank correspondence will not be returned, and will be blocked if it persists.  In our 5 years of involvement with the online collectibles business, we have only had to block one email source.  Please, be mindful that our main goal is to make your experience with us the best you've had collecting on the Internet; you can convey displeasure with our services without being abusive, and we will always strive to rectify any problems.

LINKING

Botcollector, of course, is happy to be represented on other web pages, as long as they do not contain pornography or other tasteless or illegal content.  We are also happy to include reciprocal links on our own page, but keep in mind that the following must apply to your page in order to have a link on Botcollector's website:

  • A presentable appearance
  • Useful or fun (cool) content
  • An absence of negative feedback concerning any services or products the page provides or advertises
  • A hosting service that does not utilize pop-up banners, erroneous javascript or vbscript, or bandwidth limitations under 500 Megabytes

We know that not everyone can have a great web page (ours is certainly lacking in many areas), but it mustn't be taken as an insult or as negative if we cannot link to your page.  All of our customers and surfers are great people who share our energetic appreciation of cool robot toys, but we would never have room to link to everyone's web page who has one.  We therefore have to apply some sort of criteria when considering links.  If you have a web page you'd like us to take a look at, and would like to see as a link on our links page, you can use our Introduction page.  We should be able to get back to you within a couple days.
